March 27, 2020 – Original note to our patients

To our precious patients:

The COVID19 pandemic has filled all of our lives with uncertainty, anxiety and fear. At Genesis, none of this will get in the way of our assuring our patients’ safety and ultimate success.

Unfortunately, we have been advised by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine that we should not be starting any new treatment cycles. In addition, Governor Cuomo has prohibited any elective surgery in the state because hospitals are desperate for ventilators – the ventilators we use for egg retrievals may be collected at any moment to be used for sick patients. Finally, when dealing with a virus as contagious as the coronavirus, having too many patients or staff in the same facility poses a danger to all of them. Adhering to the restrictions that will keep us all safe requires us to slowly wind down our assisted reproduction program.

But we are not closed. The doctors, nurses, scientists and ancillary staff at Genesis will be covering different days of the week so that urgent visits can be scheduled and covered. In addition, our Telehealth remote consultations, which we have used for the last several years, will now expand significantly so that we can continue to prepare patients for proper care as soon as the pandemic abates.

At the current time, we have established regular hours two days per week for in office management of clinically urgent visits. Our weekend and satellite office hours will need to temporarily cease. Telehealth consultations, however, will continue five days per week. We encourage the liberal use of Telehealth because it is the safest way to connect and plan and will allow most patients to resume treatment quickly until the current situation resolves

We will be back up and running our full gamut of services, with the same professional staff – known to many as the Genesis Family – as soon as possible.

Wishing you all good health during this trying time.

The Genesis Staff
