Joshua Halpern, MD, MS
Reproductive Urologist
Joshua Halpern, MD, MS is a board-certified and fellowship-trained Reproductive Urologist. He serves as both the Regional Medical Director in the Northeast and Chief Scientific Officer for Posterity Health. He is also on faculty at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
After completing his medical degree at Weill Cornell Medicine, he completed a six-year urology residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. He went on to complete fellowship training in Andrology and Male Infertility at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he remained in practice until joining Posterity Health. Dr. Halpern also completed a Masters in Health Policy and Economics at Weill Cornell Medicine.
Dr. Halpern is passionate about expanding access to care for couples with male factor infertility and offering a unique, personalized approach for each patient. Through the unique care model at Posterity Health and close partnerships with Reproductive Endocrinologists (REIs), he is able to provide timely, integrated care for couples on their fertility journey.
Dr. Halpern is dedicated to advancing the field of male infertility through research. He has extensive research experience having received multiple research grants and served as Principal Investigator on multiple clinical trials. As the Chief Scientific Officer at Posterity Health, Dr. Halpern is committed to not only providing outstanding patient care but also advancing the field of male infertility through cutting-edge research.
Jacob L. Khurgin, DO
Director of Male Reproductive Health
Jacob Khurgin, DO is a fellowship-trained urologist whose special interest is in the field of men’s reproductive health, fertility and reconstructive urological surgery. A native New Yorker, he attended Stuyvesant High School in downtown Manhattan. He received his undergraduate degree from Columbia College, followed by his medical degree at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY. Dr. Khurgin completed his internship and urological surgery residency at the Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. While serving as chief resident in urology, he received several awards, including Resident of the Year and the ACOS Resident Achievement Award. His postdoctoral fellowship was completed at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Khurgin has published on a variety of urological topics in peer-reviewed journals and textbook chapters. He has presented at national urological meetings and continues to be active in urological research. He also serves as a reviewer for several urological journals. He is a member of multiple urological and medical societies, including the American Urological Association, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and American Medical Association.
Dr. Khurgin has a special interest in male fertility. He strongly believes that a thorough evaluation of the male is essential to couples having difficulty conceiving. Male fertility potential is often considered a secondary issue or even overlooked completely, but appropriate assessment often uncovers underlying problems requiring attention, such as hormonal, genetic, metabolic and general health concerns.
Dr. Khurgin’s work as part of our team is meant to expedite the evaluation of the male partners who seek care for infertility at GENESIS. His fluency in both Russian and Hebrew facilitates easily communication with the diverse population that we serve.
