Meet Dr. Ruchi Amin

Ever since medical school, Dr. Ruchi Amin has known that the only occupation that would fulfill her life would be reproductive endocrinology and infertility. She is a firm believer in individualized, compassionate care and works hard with her patients to achieve shared goals. Dr. Amin’s fellowship training at UTSW puts her in a position to create unique treatment plans for patients with diminished ovarian reserve or with previously failed IVF cycles.

More about Dr Ruchi Amin

Q: WHY DID YOU BECOME A REPRODUCTIVE ENDOCRINOLOGIST?
A: I have wanted to become an REI since I was in medical school. A patient came to speak with us about her amazing journey to motherhood. Her father had just been diagnosed with Huntington’s disease. She had also inherited the disease (she had a 50% chance of having it). Although it was a lifelong dream of hers to have children, she couldn’t risk passing on the horrible disease to her children. And so she thought she could never conceive. Then she went to see a REI who was able to treat her with IVF and preconception genetic testing of her embryos for Huntington’s disease. She now has a beautiful healthy boy who does not carry any risk of developing Huntington’s disease. She stated, “my REI empowered me in a situation I felt hopeless and weak” and I knew in that moment that I wanted to become an REI.

Q: WHO INSPIRES YOU?
A: Every single one of my patients inspires me! Your continued hope and relentlessness inspire me every single day.

Q: WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING IN YOUR SPARE TIME?
A: I love working-out, spending time with my puppy, travelling, and trying new restaurants/cuisines.

Q: WHAT IS SOMETHING ABOUT YOU THAT WOULD SURPRISE MOST PEOPLE?
A: As I said above, I love working out, but I specifically love weight-training and hitting personal records at the gym.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH TO HELPING PATIENTS?
A: I think the most important thing is to listen to all my patients very carefully and tailor the discussion based on the conversation. Individualized medicine is the art of fertility treatment, which is one of the aspects of the field that I love.

Q: HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY?
A: My friends would describe me as outgoing, goal-oriented, and friendly 😊

Meet Willy!Q: IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOU?
A: I am obsessed with my dog, Wilfred!
