Dr Henry Malter has been involved with assisted reproductive medicine, science and genetics for over 25 years. He did his first training with reproductive science pioneer, Dr Ben Brackett who's laboratory produced the birth of the first in vitro fertilized cattle and first mammals from sperm injection. Dr Malter earned a mid-career PhD degree at Emory University in the laboratory of renowned human geneticist Dr Steve Warren and made substantial contributions to advancing the molecular genetics and cell biology of human Fragile X syndrome, the most common form of inherited mental retardation.

Dr Malter has worked for most of his career as a senior scientist in the area of clinical human reproduction. Working with Dr Jacques Cohen and colleagues at Reproductive Biology Associates he developed the first successful clinical micromanipulation techniques
leading to the first human births from such procedures and a new paradigm for human embryology. In the early 1990's, he worked as a senior scientist and clinical embryologist at the New York Hospital assisted reproduction program and then at the St Barnabas Hospital program in New Jersey. He played a critical role in further pioneering research and clinical development in mitochondrial aspects, genetic analysis, and the development and first clinical trials of embryological micro-surgical laser systems. Dr Malter was the founding chairman of the Galileo Research Institute associated with this team that continues such advanced human reproduction research.

He then worked for several years with human pre-implantation genetics pioneer, the late Dr Yury Verlinsky, developing satellite clinics and performing genetic diagnosis procedures for partner clinics around the World and developed and acted as scientific and laboratory director for a private human assisted reproduction clinic, the Tower Fertility Center in New Jersey. Recently, Dr Malter acted as the Executive and Laboratory Director of the renowned McGill University Reproductive Center at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. Dr Malter led a team involved in transitioning the center into a new public health coverage program for assisted reproduction – the first of its kind in North America.

Dr Malter has authored dozens of scientific publications in basic and clinical science over a 20 year period. He has written numerous chapters and co-authored the first textbook on human clinical micromanipulation. He is a frequent invited speaker around the world on clinical, science and genetic issues in assisted reproduction. He has acted as course director or senior faculty at over a dozen international workshops and symposia where some of the current leading human reproduction practitioners have trained and was a founding member of the Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis Society.  Dr Malter holds a High Complexity Laboratory Director certification from the American Board of Bioanalysis.

Dr Malter is honored to have the opportunity to work with the outstanding team at Genesis building off of a long professional history and friendship with the former laboratory director, Mike Lee and the Genesis physicians and staff.
